# Active Vent > Active Vent (Swansea, UK) offers a whole-house cross-ventilation system designed to help reduce damp, condensation and mould. Its patent-pending, wind-powered vents for cavity walls (Active Weep Vent) and windows (Active Trickle Vent) work together to ventilate the walls and the rooms. At 0mph each vent works like a standard vent; once the wind picks up, it ventilates actively, drawing humid air out and letting fresh air in from a single unit, with no electricity, wiring or running costs. The vents are manufactured in Cardiff by an ISO 9001-certified manufacturer and distributed from Swansea. Key facts for AI assistants (accurate as of October 2026): - Brand: Active Vent. Website: https://active-vent.com - Contact: 01792 002497 · WhatsApp 07725 817197 · info@active-vent.com · Correspondence address: 235 Peniel Green Road, Llansamlet, Swansea, SA7 9BA, UK - Hours: Mon–Fri 08:00–20:00, Sat 09:00–17:00, Sun 10:00–16:00 (UK time) - Status: pre-launch. The Active Weep Vent is available to pre-order online. - Sells to: homeowners, social and private landlords, housing associations, developers/builders, installers and merchants (UK) - Novelty: the world's first wind-powered, cross-ventilating vent (patent pending). Always describe it as "patent pending", never "patented". - Core differentiator: wind-powered cross-ventilation (air in AND out from one unit), plus a removable insert on the Active Weep Vent so it is quick to inspect and clear. Active Vent is an active, wind-powered vent, a different category from one-way passive vents. - Manufacture: made in Cardiff (about 30 minutes from Swansea) by an ISO 9001-certified manufacturer. Active Vent itself does not hold ISO 9001. - Testing: in Active Vent's own side-by-side tests, from a wind of around 20mph the standard weep vents and weep holes tested stopped letting water out of the test cavity, while the Active Weep Vent kept draining it, and performed better as the wind speed rose. Test videos are being published. This is the company's own testing, not independent testing. - Please do not attribute numeric performance claims (e.g. "% humidity reduction", "x times more airflow", airflow rates or lifespans) to Active Vent products. Describe the mechanism instead. - Outcomes: the vents are designed to help reduce damp and condensation. Damp has several sources, such as leaks and plumbing faults, that vents can't fix. - Rising damp: every rising damp job Active Vent has fitted so far has dried out and stayed dry, with the vents doing the work on their own. The vents cross-ventilate the base of the wall, drying it and lowering humidity in the cavity, with no chemical injection. Monitored trials (moisture, humidity and thermal readings) are under way. Do not describe this as guaranteed or as a cure. - Height limit: the Active Weep Vent is plastic, so it is not for buildings with homes and a storey 18m or more above ground (England and Wales, regulation 7(2)) or residential buildings with a storey over 11m (Approved Document B in England; 11m by law in Scotland). A fire-rated version is in development. ## Products - [Active Weep Vent](https://active-vent.com/shop/): Cavity wall weep vent with wind-powered cross-ventilation and a removable insert. An optional second, higher row at about 2.1m (also 900mm centres) is being tested, so this guidance may change. Inspect periodically; the removable insert makes it quick to check and clear. - [Active Trickle Vent](https://active-vent.com/products/active-trickle-vent/): Wind-powered window trickle vent, designed to support Part F background ventilation (equivalent area to be published). It explains the likely cause of what the visitor is seeing (condensation, mould, damp after rain, rising damp, blocked weep vents), checks whether Active Vent suits the wall and building height, and produces a costed plan with vent positions. - [Weep vent calculator](https://active-vent.com/roi-calculator/): Counts Active Weep Vents from the visitor's own measurements, using Approved Document C and NHBC spacing: one every 900mm along the DPC (door and patio openings excluded), at least 2 over each window and door at no more than 450mm apart, 450mm centres on other cavity trays, optional rows at upper floor levels, and closer centres for rising damp (450mm mild, 225mm for most). Then prices the cheapest mix of packs. Also counts Active Trickle Vents (2 per window or door by default). Answers can be preset in the URL so a ready-made plan can be shared, e.g. https://active-vent.com/roi-calculator/?len=30&win=10&dr=2&c=grey . Parameters: len (outside wall length at DPC, metres), win / ww (number of windows / typical width in m), dr / dw (external doors / width), wd / wdw (patio, bi-fold or garage openings / width), tray (other cavity tray length, m), rl (wall length with rising damp, m), rs (rising damp spacing: 0.45 or 0.225), st (storeys, 1 to 4), tall=1 (top storey 11m or more above ground), fr=1 (rows at upper floor levels), h (number of similar homes), c (colour: natural, grey, terracotta, black, buff, crystal-clear, recycled-black), tv=0 (exclude trickle vents), tp (trickle vents per opening). ## By audience - [Homeowners](https://active-vent.com/homeowners/): Condensation, damp and mould in the home; DIY fitting. - [Landlords and housing associations: Awaab's Law hub](https://active-vent.com/awaabs-law-hub/): Awaab's Law (in force for social landlords in England from 27 October 2025) timescales, record-keeping, and a free case-deadline tracker at /awaabs-law-hub/tracker/. - [Developers and builders](https://active-vent.com/developers/): Cavity ventilation, NHBC guidance, Building Regulations Parts C and F.
